I have a few friends who like collecting stuff like candles. Though candles maybe of one time use only, the jars that come with some candles can easily pile up. What do you do about them? If you are like me or my friends, who feel guilty letting go of things like old t-shirts, old boxes, or even these candle jars, hang on for a while on this page as I share a simple organization project using candle jars. All it takes is a creative mind to turn simple objects into an interesting useful piece.
- Bath & Body Works Candle Jars
- 40w Glue gun and high-performance glue sticks
- Birdies from Michaels Craft store $2-3 each (cheaper if you use 40-50% off coupon)
- Surface cleaner
First, clean candle jars – Prepare your candle jars with a little bit of wax left over, place it in a shallow bowl. Now, fill the bowl with hot water and allow it to sit for a few minutes making the wax melt. Then pour out the melted wax and immediately wipe it with dry paper towel. Scrape off any label using a card. Then wash with water and soap.
To make a chic organizer, first, wipe jars with alcohol or acetone to remove any surface oils before gluing them together. Line up the jars to make a pyramid, then, add a generous amount of glue between the jars. Repeat this on all the jars. Depending on how many objects you’ll store on this organizer, you’ll need to add more glue to add in order to support the weight of the objects.
Bathroom Vanity Kit
First, clean the lid. Using any craft decoration materials like this birdie or some doorknobs, bind it to the lid using some hot glue. Just make sure it is craft glue and is suitable to the lid surface you will be using.
Make-up Brush Holder
Decorate the jars using Epson salt. To create an ombre effect, mix your desired food coloring with a little bit of water into the salt and mix all in a Ziplock bag. Start with a lighter shade, pour it into the jar, and repeat the process adding more color to create the gradient effect. Lastly, you may add any essential oil to add fragrance and make it in an instant room freshener while holding your brushes.
Upcycling is fun, especially if you know this can save you, instead of spending money buying expensive ones. Do not limit yourself to these ideas. Explore and be creative, the possibilities are endless.
