Thanks to the incredible technology of 3D printing and a few caring individuals, Derby, a Siberian husky born with deformed paws, was able to run for the very first time!
Derby under the care of a foster home by Peace and Paws Rescue was lucky enough to end up being adopted by a loving owner named Tara Anderson, who happens to be a 3DSystems employee. Worried that a cart would only limit Derby’s mobility, she came up with a better plan and enlisted the help of 3D Systems Corporation.
Two designers and an animal orthotist named Derek Campana worked on designing Derby a pair of artificial legs. They designed loop-shaped prosthetic legs to let him do what dogs loving doing the most, run! As soon as they attached the new legs Darby started running for joy.
This video just made our day! Watch this video to see him running for the first time.
