Another startling discovery of human fossil remains have been revealed. These new findings might change the way we understand the face of human evolution today. “Homo Naledi”, presents us with new insight into our human ancestors.

Scientists discovered the new species in a deep cave in Johannesburg, South Africa. According to National Geographic, the team found at least fifteen human-like skeletons. The estimated age of these fossils is at least 2.5 to 2.8 million years old.

Scientists from all around the world came together to analyze the bones to discover their origin, and to prove if they rightfully belong to the human family tree. Aside from their physical characteristics, another unique human behavior is evident which is the deliberate disposal of their dead.

Homo Naledi continues to be a very controversial topic and it’s believed to be one of the most remarkable findings of human ancestors to date.
