Homemade Soy Milk

People nowadays are becoming more health conscious and continuously searching for healthier alternatives than the processed ones we can easily buy in the market. It is because chemicals and preservatives and even biologically engineered plants turned their most valued nutrients into junk. Thus, many prefer to go back to the basic which is by going organic.

If you are finding an alternative for milk because you are lactose-intolerant, or if you are vegan or if you simply just wanted to get the most nutrients from milk, soy milk is highly recommended. But experts really insists that soy milk is only healthy when it is made from organic ingredients and nothing else. Thus, making soy milk at home doesn’t only saves you money but will also give you the most benefits.

You will need 1 cup of soybeans and three cups of water. The first thing to do is soak the beans overnight with water. Afterward, check if the beans are ready. Aside from the increase in size, it should split in half when squeezed.

If the beans are ready, drain out the water. And put the drained beans into the food processor. Add 2 cups of water and blend it until smooth.

Then boil 1 cup of water in a pan. When the water is already boiling you can add the soybean mixture. Then cook it within 3-6 minutes. Stir frequently while cooking.

After cooking the soybean mixture, strain the milk through the use of cheesecloth or a very fine strainer. Be careful in straining because it is very hot. You may use thongs in squeezing out the milk from the cheesecloth/strainer.

Easy right? After all these procedures, your healthy milk drink is ready to serve.
